Time to Journey

…did the time to journey come,
when I am prepared to understand the world
as it presently exists?

...then when I feel responsible
for all the illusions I have
also for the illusions that question  my adventurous spirit?

…then when I perhaps start to love myself
and everything else more?

…then when I clean out my mind,
creating space for a life-renewing idea?

…then when I’m ready to forgive myself
and my in-laws
for what happens without doubts?

…then when I – detached from right-and-wrong thinking -
experience the “YES”?

Yes then – I think – it IS TIME to start the journey.

“Just enter, you risks and side effects of the world bicycling tour!” she calls out joyfully.
“Come in you, who want to sweeten, sour, or change my life. How will I  receive you?” grandma calls out. She knows confidentially:
Would she be confronted with the same decision again  World-Bicycling Tour “YES”
or “NO” … she would not even ask that question! That is her opinion.

“Children! Adventure lives from the future, looking forward and taking risks to a new horizon.” she said when we asked her quietly.

“Enough talking..” she says.

Whoa , now she will finally start her adventure.

Accepting the physical and the emotional risk, our grandma looks into a bright future.
This  is a gift she seems to be born with. She has the ability to let go what happened yesterday. In that way she will expand her Self , that is what she told us.
We didn’t really understand that statement. But we understood one thing:

She wants to bicycle around the world; not sit at home and knit sweaters or socks.

Her motivation will be her dreams and imaginations of distant worlds.
It means a lot to her to look at our Blue Planet through the eyes of  a senior adventurer.
It will become her adventure as such.

We grandchildren will experience it with her.
We are sure that this adventure will change grandma’s life totally.
It will renew her. She will go through an inner youth fountain with every
month on the road.

Before she is ready for the assistant living home, grandma’s bicycle might grow wings.
One day a hammock will be where today her handlebars and the saddle are held together.

Most of the fairy tales grandma read to us started “Once upon a time…”.
Her life story might end … “ And if she did not fall from her  bicycle….”

What will happen then? We don’t want to discuss this now and here.
“ If things don’t happen the way I want, it can just happen better” , she takes the
best out of her age!

She is tired of the grey German sky. She doesn’t want to live without the blue sky
any more. She is giving up her most loved ones in exchange for that experience for
many years: her family especially us grandchildren.
That is not easy for her at all.  We are who she has most difficulties to separate from.
She will not see us growing up! And we will miss her so much, too!

In return for this sacrifice, our grandmother will see things the rest of us just dream about.
That makes her happy, and we realize it.

The “goodbye” is not easy for all of us. She will voluntarily go through dangers and
challenges. We don’t even know if we will ever see her alive. But this project is her
life-long travel-dream.

She wants to get to know the world the way it is today.
She wants to see things, which in the past she just knew from books.

Grandma is ready to grow old. She discarded the wish to stay 40 for 20 years!

Goodbye YESTERDAY!

We grandchildren and the entire family are proud of her!

 Bon Voyage!
