Why did Granny decide to put another purpose to her tour?
And why did she especially choose „TARGET“by Rüdiger Nehberg?
For a while Granny thought about it. She made up her mind recently. In October 2005, Granny saw a slideshow by Rüdiger Nehberg about the topic of female circumcision. She had the chance to talk to him and was very excited about his project which is presented on his website under
www.target-human-rights.de.
It occurred to Granny that World cycling for this specific purpose would be a great addition to her project. She got up in the middle of the night and sent an email to Rüdiger Nehberg:
„May 1, 2006
Dear Rüdiger, I’m a member of your human rights organisation „TARGET“. Recently,
we met at your presentation in Bielefeld. My plans are: I would like to start my world cycling
tour in fall 2006 in Suriname. I decided to start a fund raiser for your organisation on
my website if you agree. One (€) cent per km should go to your organisation.
I hope this is ok with you. Please let me know. I would like to look around for contacts
to collect money all over the world.
I would not just cycle for myself but will give my tour a social purpose.
For me your human rights organisation seems to be the best choice.
As a woman I’m empathetic to each girl who has to suffer from such a cruel custom.

At this moment, Rüdiger is travelling. He was very happy to hear about your plan and is

We would like to use a photo of you for our yearly newsletter. Please send us one from your
tour.
Would this be ok? Please let us know if you need information material about „Target“from us.
