Since 10 months, nothing was added to this website. Grandma’s readers might think nothing is going on!
But this is not the case. Our Grandma is very busy to prepare the start of her WORLD  CYCLING TOUR,
which will begin in a few weeks.

Grandma had to be inoculated against all types of  diseases she could encounter along her way around the world.
This took almost ¾ of a year! Her family physician Dr. Peter Huettemann gave her all the necessary shots.

Grandma has now a new web designer,  Joerg Freter. He will take care of her website for the long time she is on her way bicycling
around the world. She is very lucky to have found Joerg because he is the most competent and reliable person for the job.

This will be the last entry on the link for “NEWS”. Joerg will begin  a new link on the website with the start of grandma’s World Tour.

Joerg will take care of everything else that has something to do with the World Cycling Tour.  
But – he will NOT publish any travel reports or diaries on this website. Grandma decided to email these to people directly.
Instead , he will post a slide show online of  grandma’s start in Suriname. We are looking forward to see the first photos
from our grandma’s tour.  We want to express our thanks to Joerg  for all the work and effort he puts into this project.

Grandma’s bicycle “BENNE” is presently still in the “Bicycle Manufacture PATRIA” shop for inspection and minor repairs.
They are the main sponsors for Grandma’s Bicycle Tour around the World.  “BENNE” gets a front rack to carry her snacks and
lunch in a basket.

There are a lot of changes under the link “Sponsors”. Several sponsors were added and more to come.
We grandchildren want to express our gratitude to all the sponsors who are willing to help our grandma with her project.

“ROHLOFF” gave grandma the 500/14 speed hub and will give her also some spare chains.

“netclusive; internet broadcasting” is offering additional free webspace for grandma’s website.

“SCHWALBE” will provide grandma with all her needs for tires around the world. She received already 3 tires and several
spare tubes for the first part of her tour.

A second saddle was shipped by “SQlab” model Ergolux 602. What a comfortable device! Thanks!

The “REISE KNOW-HOW” publisher located in Bielefeld offered to provide grandma with all the necessary maps.
They will send the maps to grandma wherever in the world she just is! What a great offer! Many thanks!

 The print shop “PRINT DESIGN” will make plenty of multi-language cards for grandma. Its president, Mr. Olav Krutsch,
was my grandfather’s student. In Honor of my grandmother’s husband he helps her.  Thank you, Mr. Krutsch.

 “ Hoerakustik Hollmann” is grandma’s most important sponsor. Mr. Hollmann serves Grandma’s needs for hearing aids
since she moved to Bad Salzulflen. Our grandma lost 90% of her hearing already in her early childhood. 
Mr. Hollmann makes sure that people usually don’t realize that only 10% of her hearing is left. Our Grandmother needs 
very professional and individualized service for that reason, and the best hearing aids on the market. Mr. Stefan Hollmann
agreed to provide her world-wide with all the hearing aid equipment she will need on her 10-year tour for FREE! What a generous offer!
Many, many thanks Mr. Hollmann.

Bad Salzuflen’s “Brandsche Apotheke (pharmacy)” sponsored grandma’s tick immunization  and put also a medical travel
emergency kit together, which she hopefully should never have to use! Thanks!

Diplom Health-Educator Mrs. Tahmasseb-Gast works as a volunteer at the Dr. Ingeborg-Gebert-Heiss foundation for victims
of adverse reactions to medications. She counseled our grandmother for 7 years. She offered to help and sponsor grandma
with healthy and organic foods.

“Carstensen Media Foto” digitalized grandma’s photos from her tour through Germany. They didn’t charge her the full prize for
that service.

“Globetrotter” in Hamburg offered a free adapter for her handlebar bag.

“Mayday 24” offered grandma their 24/7 “guardian angel” service for free” a metal plaque on the bicycle lists the  contact information
of the family, so we can be informed immediately in case something happens to our grandma somewhere in the world.

“Ortlieb” will also be on the list of main sponsors. They provide our grandmother with waterproof bags for her travel documents
and a waterproof bag for her First Aid kit. GREAT!

“OPTIK Krane” in Bad Salzuflen offered to provide spare glasses for grandma. All without costs for her. Super!

“Bush and Mueller” sent grandma two mirrors for her bicycle and the lighting system “LED-Akku/Battery with supra vision-LED’s
with a life span of 100 000 hours.

The care rental agency “Autorent” in Bad Salzuflen sponsored our grandma with a 7.5t moving truck to move her furniture into storage.

The travel agency “Kanne” in Bad Salzuflen sponsored my grandmother with a train ticket to the airport in Amsterdam.
Grandma is very delighted, how much her hometown is participating in her project.

The bookstore “Schade” in Bad Salzuflen is also taking part in her project. They laminate all the copies of her documents and
provided her with the newest edition of the Duden , a German language dictionary. Grandma will use that a lot!

On August 26 and 27, grandma displayed her project “Around the World on a Bicycle for a Good Cause (TARGET)” at a city party named
“Bunt-eine Stadt zeigt Flagge”(colorful-a city shows its flags) for the NRW city movement “Into the Middle (ab in die Mitte)”

It is a never ending list of people, companies, and stores who are helping our grandmother. Even when she is already on her way,

Blown back at the fence of unconceivability

Children of the world (Die Kinder dieser Welt )

As we´ve heard about the unbelievably big flood at christmas time around India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia killing thousands of people, we are feeling very sorry for the suffering people. So many people were killed, so many children, many survivors had lost there house, their parents and many parents lost their children. We can´t help with money because we don´t get pocket money, yet but we can rennonce going to the fun pool. Granny should give the money to the help organisation ? a heart for the children?. That´s not much but if many children would rennonce on their fun activities the money could be helpfull for many people who are suffering a lot. Granny loves this idea and will transfer our donation. She would like to cycle to India, too and until she will be there it would hopefully look better again there.
